Lacy Schutz began her career as the founding archivist and records manager at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA after earning a Master's degree in Information and Library Sciences at Pratt Institute. She went on to hold various leadership positions at the Museum of the City of New York, including Chief Administrative Officer for Exhibitions and Collections. From 2016 to 2024 she was the Executive Director of Shaker Museum in New York's Hudson Valley where she led the re-emergence and growth of the organization and advanced the creation of its new permanent home, designed by architect Annabelle Selldorf. Centering Shaker values of equality, inclusion and accessibility, she re-envisioned the museum as a cultural anchor and economic resource for the Columbia County region.
